OUR SERVICES

START GOOD!  FORMING THE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION:

Starting a nonprofit corporation involves several formation documents that can be onerous to complete.   Leave it to Start Good! to assist you in the drafting and filing of:

  • Articles of Incorporation

  • Bylaws

  • Your Mission and Vision Statement

  • The “dreaded” 1023 Form and obtaining IRS 501(c)(3) status  

  • Registering with the Secretary of State, Attorney General and Department of Taxation and Revenue (or equivalent)

We also provide consultation and policy development at any point along the way in your formation process.

KEEP THE GOOD GOING! ONGOING COMPLIANCE & MORE:

We offer time & materials-based consulting services to aid your organization in ongoing compliance and accountability and offer guidance in the following areas:

  • Annual Filings. To maintain in good standing, we can assist in preparing and filing the: 1) Annual Corporate Report with your Secretary of State  2) Financial Report with the Attorney General Charitable Organizations Registrar (COROS)  3) Business License Renewal.

  • Audit & 990.  We can help with preparing for the Annual Audit process and compiling proper documentation.

  • Internal Controls. Internal Controls are financial management practices that are systematically used to prevent misuse and misappropriation of assets. We can help you create internal controls, which will need to be updated annually. The goal of internal controls is to create sound business practices and appropriate level of segregation of duties that serve as “checks and balances” for your staff.

  • Other Organizational Matters. Board Governance, Lobbying, Matrix and Recruitment, Reinstatement of Tax-Exempt Status, Renaming/Rebranding, to name a few.

  • Agreements, Policies.  Allowance for Doubtful Accounts (Accounts Receivables Write-Off), Board Meeting Minutes, Bylaws, Conflict of Interest, Document Retention & Destruction, Donor Acknowledgment, Fiscal Sponsorship, Gift Acceptance Policy, Gift Intention, Whistle Blower, among others.

  • Dormancy. Are you considering re-evaluating your organization and taking a break in the meantime while staying active until your board decides next steps, if any?  We can streamline this process and provide you with a checklist of items and steps to consider during this inactive time. 


  • Dissolution. Closing your organization and dissolving can be hard decision and challenging emotionally.  We can provide you with the necessary actions and filings that will need to be made both with the state and the IRS.
